The resident had self-inflicted scratches to the left thigh, and during observation the RN applied the ointment to an open area on the left thigh; the RN stated the area heals but then the resident scratches it again and it reopens. The Infection Preventionist RN confirmed this antibiotic order did not have a defined duration and had not been monitored.
