The last pest control treatment occurred the day before the survey, but the presence of cockroaches persisted, indicating that the measures in place were insufficient to eliminate the infestation. Interviews with the nursing home administrator revealed a lack of awareness regarding the presence of cockroaches in certain areas, such as the cabinets under the serving areas in the dining room. The administrator was unsure about who was responsible for changing the traps between pest control visits and was not familiar with the details of the pest control products used. Staff training had been provided on maintaining cleanliness, but the ongoing presence of pests suggested that further action was needed to address the deficiency effectively.
