Improper Food Storage and Labeling

Columbus Healthcare CenterColumbus, Ohio Survey Completed on 03-23-2026

Summary

The facility failed to store food in a safe and sanitary manner. During observation of the kitchen dry storage area, surveyors found about four bags of unnamed and unlabeled breadsticks on top of the dry storage shelving unit, and some of the breadsticks had blueish-green spots on them. During observation of a stand-alone refrigerator, surveyors found a tray of about ten cups of juice, with two cups uncovered and none of the cups dated. The Kitchen Manager confirmed the breadsticks were not stored in the proper location and removed and discarded them, and the District Manager confirmed the juice cups should have been covered and that kitchen items should be dated. Review of the facility Food Storage policy stated storage areas should be neat, arranged for easy identification, date marked as appropriate, and all food items kept clean, dry, and properly sealed.
