Summary

A resident reported that a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) entered his room, forcibly turned and positioned him, yelled at him, and placed a pillow over his face. The incident was reported by the resident to facility staff, and the facility initiated an investigation into the allegation. The investigation included an interview with the resident's roommate and a review of the circumstances surrounding the incident. The facility substantiated the allegation of abuse following their investigation. Documentation confirmed that the incident was reported to the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), and the GNA involved was placed on a do not return staffing list. The facility's Administrator confirmed the substantiated finding of abuse during an interview with the surveyor.
