Summary

A medication cart was observed unlocked and unattended on hall 200 in front of a resident's room, with no staff present at the time of observation. The facility's policy requires that medications and biologicals be stored securely and that medication carts are locked when not attended by authorized personnel. Upon return, an ACMA acknowledged the cart was not locked, explaining that the top drawer does not always lock properly and that it may have popped open after being pushed in. The issue with the cart's lock had not been reported to maintenance at the time of the observation. The facility had 69 residents at the time of the incident.
