Staff K, responsible for offering bed holds, confirmed that the bed hold was not provided as required. Resident 97, who had diagnoses including malnourishment, gout, and nausea, was transferred to the hospital after experiencing a sudden headache and nausea. The facility did not provide a bed hold due to the resident's altered mental state at the time of transfer. Resident 97 returned to the facility eight days later. Staff M from Social Services stated that nursing typically handled the bed hold process and confirmed that Resident 97 should have received a bed hold, but the resident's record did not show that it was provided. This failure to provide the required bed hold notification placed the residents and their representatives at risk of not being informed of their rights and the cost associated with holding the resident's bed while hospitalized.
