Summary

The facility failed to honor the rights of three cognitively intact residents to be treated with dignity and respect. One resident, diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, mild protein-calorie malnutrition, and type 2 diabetes, reported being yelled at by staff and treated like a child when he attempted to assist another resident. Another resident with paranoid schizophrenia, mild protein-calorie malnutrition, and low back pain described staff as frequently rude and disrespectful, specifically noting that activities and psych/social staff responded angrily and dismissively to requests and interactions. A third resident, with hemiplegia, hemiparesis following cerebral infarction, major depressive disorder, and anxiety disorder, reported that staff were sometimes disrespectful and rude, including an incident where a CNA refused to provide an additional towel for personal hygiene and made disparaging remarks. This resident also stated that she was not offered assistance with toileting at night and felt the environment was unpleasant. Resident council meeting minutes further documented ongoing concerns about disrespectful communication from CNAs and dietary staff, with reports that complaints were not addressed.
