Summary

The facility failed to employ a qualified individual with the necessary knowledge and skill set to manage food and nutrition services. Record review showed that the Dietary Manager (DM) was not a Certified Dietary Manager and was only enrolled in a certification training program, with 11 months remaining before completion. This was confirmed by both the DM and the Administrator. The facility's QAPI meeting minutes documented the goal to enroll the DM in certification training, and later confirmed her enrollment, but at the time of the survey, the DM was not yet certified. This deficiency had the potential to affect 35 residents who consumed food prepared by the facility, as there was no qualified individual overseeing the nutritional needs of residents.
