The penalty, as released by CMS, applies to the entire inspection this citation is part of, covering all citations and f-tags issued, not just this specific f-tag. For the complete original report, please refer to the 'Details' section.

Summary

The facility failed to maintain electrical wiring systems and equipment, as evidenced by an observation on February 10, 2025. During the inspection, it was found that a power strip/surge protector was being improperly used as a permanent junction box in the Mechanical/Electrical room located in the basement. This deficiency was confirmed through an interview with the Facility Administrator and Maintenance Director on the same day, highlighting a lapse in adherence to the required electrical safety standards.

Plan Of Correction

1. Maintenance will conduct a weekly audit on extension/power strip cords throughout the facility. 2. Nursing Home Administrator/designee will be educated on the use of power strips/extension cords. 3. The audit will be ongoing throughout the calendar year. 4. When a deficiency is found, staff will be educated, and cord will be removed. 5. Any concerns will be brought to the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committee for review.
