Summary

The facility failed to comply with the regulation requiring notification to the department at least 60 days prior to reducing its licensed bed complement. This deficiency was identified through facility records, observations, and staff interviews. Specifically, the facility's bed readout document indicated that there were two Medicare/Medicaid licensed beds in rooms 244 and 248 on the North Front Hall nursing unit. However, during an observation, it was noted that each of these rooms only contained one bed, with the second bed missing. The Nursing Home Administrator confirmed that the facility did not notify the department about the reduction in the number of licensed beds, as required by the regulation.

Plan Of Correction

The 2 Beds immediately were returned to rooms. Staff will be educated by regional nurse on tag 005. Beds will be audited 3 times a week for four weeks then monthly. All results to be reviewed through QAPI for further recommendation.
