Meal Delivery Delays at Maple Heights Health and Rehab Center
Penalty
Summary
Maple Heights Health and Rehab Center was found to be non-compliant with the requirements for the frequency of meals and snacks at bedtime as per 42 CFR Part 483.60(f)(1)-(3). The facility failed to ensure that meals were served at regularly scheduled times, as evidenced by multiple instances of late meal deliveries. The review of the facility's tray delivery logs showed consistent delays in meal delivery across various halls and rooms, with breakfast and dinner meals being delivered significantly later than the scheduled times. These delays ranged from 17 to 31 minutes late, affecting multiple units and residents over several days. Interviews with residents confirmed the issue, with reports of meals being delivered late frequently. The Nursing Home Administrator acknowledged the problem, confirming that the tray delivery logs indicated meals were not being delivered within the expected 10-minute window of the scheduled mealtimes. This deficiency highlights a failure in the facility's meal delivery system, impacting the regularity and timeliness of meals provided to residents.
